In: Congress archive a grade> The second degree Breach CEL For teachers teaching journal Techniques> Printing Pedagogical Principles> Communication> school newspaper in February 1975 THE CONGRESS OF PRINTERS The following page, as you can see, is not the same those we had learned so far. First, it is combined in two colors; and above all, it was not typed, but printed … Printed with real characters whose lead workers to serve in printing …

And it is at the second congress of the printers of school newspapers, we could, with Mr. Brunet dial. this page. This conference, organized by I’ICEM (Cooperative Institute of Modern School) collected from October 31 to November 2, 1974 .au Montigny-en-Morvan, many users of the class newspaper and high school in the part of the Freinet pedagogy.

So we were a hundred children (kindergarten to CM2), students (mostly undergraduate), teachers and professors gathered to confront and share our techniques and to deepen the role of the class newspaper and high school. We can not shoot. these three days together in the middle of snowy landscape of the Morvan, a deep enrichment, coupled with astonishment …. · Surprisingly due to the spontaneity of gestures, attitudes, creations of children, left for three days with their teachers or their teachers, more than a hundred kilometers to the minimum and maximum seven hundred !!!

Surprisingly also had close links made between the intellectual and the manual; that is to say that any discussion, any discovery, confrontation is done on the workplace, while creating the text or during its layout … Nothing is done in the abstract, everything goes through the manual ; any desire to create is immediately performed by the creator himself. There is no division of labor resulting in dullness and automatic.

Each student, each teacher goes through all the stages of manufacture of the page: first create the text and the illustration ·, layout, composition, correction, to press and distribution. (*) Thus, no dead time, still work to be done. Around the work tables, on which were installed the full letters lockers, we learn to know each other .. and we spoke of our newspapers while deepening the knowledge and the technical use of the printing press.

From this work done in common, he emanated an atmosphere of friendship and sharing of experiences. Thus we were able to develop a congressional newspaper, where all texts composed during these three days, by large as by small gathered under the significant sign “Thousand Hands of Printers” … As for the text on the following page we only get the one last year’s newspaper and resume illustration, with much less spontaneity and imagination that the youngest.

The illustration is made with a fairly simple method: etching the design on a linoleum plate (linoleum for floors) with kinds of knives called “cutters”. Thus, a hollow portion is left blank is obtained, and a raised portion that receives the ink. One plate the sheet on the lino, one press and you get different features and solid parts required.

But there are other possibilities for all as simple illustration if you have a little imagination … So maybe it would be interesting to book a few pages in the opener Box for Printing and different illustrative methods other than stencil like all we do?

It would be a project to be started in future issues, and we invite all interested parties to come and discuss with us on Friday between 1 pm and 2 pm in Room 208 … · Record of Janie AUREJAC and Michel appeared in AUDOIRE the opener Boxes of December 1974 journal of the Cooperative of La Bastide High School. The printed page was taken to the electronic analyzer because of the draw (300 copies). (*) This is to give the characters in the case, after completion of printing.

Following the conference printers … I brought the newspaper in my classes along with free expression, that is to say six years ago. I had always stayed https://www.homeworkmarket.me/
at the mimeograph limographe ct. I also realize n ‘ever having exploited all possibilities (see the childish Art # 69 brings together a large number of tracks for newspaper illustration). I was with curiosity and skepticism printers Congress.

I imagined evil (despite some notable exceptions: see the papers of R. Barcik, G. Bacle !, J .P Eyraud ….) One can seriously bring printing in the second degree, primarily by lack of time. I am beginning to change my opinion. The two students (1st and Terminal) who participated in the conference with me are not part of my classes but animate the school newspaper club.

Despite their blunders and their blockages, they are perfectly integrated to the Congress, they realized also their page with the help of their comrades, and they left excited, which has shaken my positions somewhat. I returned the Congress with some hardware (a small press section, a font). Upon my return I got the unused material in a high school transition class (police, screw composters, breakages, a table with lighting).

I also began to tour printers, happy to help us when they can. I introduced all in my class 3rd, without rhetoric, but by showing a few pages printed during the Congress. I did not have to wait for the reactions: after a month is always the passion, we worked overtime without noticing.

This will, of course. Anyway, with the draw of the first text I found in the classroom the same moment of emotion that we all experienced with starting a newspaper, except that a printed page produces an infinitely more shock intense.

What I first hit is that, without any pressure from me (at least apparently), students immediately had a demand for perfection that I could get hurt – it’s my fault, I know – with limographe or mimeograph: it’s so beautiful that everyone feels the need for the page to be perfect: not a shell, a perfect inking a good justification the … most obvious negligence literally. From my side I am led to practice “ready for” ruthlessly, while lack of time – this is the common excuse – by weariness, but also because of poor technical means (eg Machine write to used characters), I let go often neglect the mimeograph.

A printing TAKES ON time. Another consequence is the class immediately saw that we can print only short texts. In the first trial the author had to immediately delete a few lines, more words.

This has led us to realize the “filling” or density of texts, new criterion discussion.
